The head of Virgin Atlantic, Sir Richard Branson is contemplating a sale of his business which includes lucrative takeoff and landing slots which would be particularly appealing to airlines seeking to expand into US and Asian business markets.
The 288 landing slots account for 3% of the total at the airport and this would be particularly attractive to Delta and AirFrance-KLM Group to grow at Europe's busiest airport.
It would also be hugely lucrative for Britain's most successful entrepreneur as three years ago, four pairs on landing spots were sold to Continental Airlines for $209 million. You do the math!
