The top brass at Heathrow Airport are contemplating a novel way to overcome the problems of last years snow fall disruption.
The philosophy is similar to underfloor heating whereby the system captures the heat of the summer sun and stores the energy until winter.
The energy would then be used to heat the stands where the planes park at the airport to just above freezing. A similar system is in operation at Oslo's Gardermoen airport with much success.
