There is good news for our friends north of the border as low cost airlines Jet2.com has started operating from Glasgow.
The new operation will see Jet2.com planes fly to Nice, Alicante, Dalaman, Faro, Majorca, Paphos and Tenerife. Managing Director Ian Doubtfire estimates that around 300,000 passengers would use the new routes this summer and to increase the number of employees again in 2012.
The expansion into Glasgow is already said to have created 150 jobs at Glasgow Airport. The leader of Glasgow Council, Gordon Matheson said it would also create a 2.5m boost to the economy.
