The Chinese holiday resort of Sanya is to become home to the world's largest duty free complex. Sanya is situated on the island of Hainan in the South China Sea and is an extremely popular destination for Chinese holidaymakers.
The duty free complex is set to be around 350,000 square meters in size with a huge retail complex, a luxury exhibition area, designer hotel and wide variety of food and drink outlets.
The move by the China Duty Free Group is aimed at making the area more competitive with neighbouring Hong Kong. The move is also aimed to keep at pace with the large influx of tourists into the area. Here at Alihoco HQ it sounds like a classic case of making hay while the sun shines!
