New successor to Concorde revealed at Paris Air Show

The international aviation group EADS has revealed a concept for a plane which would be the successor to Concorde and allow travel between Paris and Tokyo within three hours.

The concept is called the Zero Emission Hyper Sonic Transport and would use rocket power to transport passengers above the Earth's atmosphere and therefore significantly reducing flight times. The science behind ZEHST lies in its three engines. The primary engines would be normal plane using jet engines before using rocket power to shoot into the outer atmosphere and finally, supersonic ramjets when it reaches it's cruising altitude of 32km above ground.

We may have to wait a while to sample this as the proposed launch date is 2050!
